Walnut Chocolate Crisps

A Recipe From Allington W.I.

Ingredients

4 oz / 100g self raising flour
4 oz / 100g soft brown sugar
1 ½ oz / 40g soft margarine
2 oz / 50g walnuts
2 oz / 50g plain chocolate
1 egg


Method

Grease 2 large baking trays. Sift the flour into a mixing bowl, add the sugar and margarine. Chop half the walnuts and cut the chocolate into small pieces and add to the bowl. Mix well together with a fork, breaking up the margarine. Add the egg and bind the mixture to a stiff dough. Place teaspoonfuls of the mixture onto the baking trays spaced well apart to allow for spreading. Place a piece of walnut in the centre of each biscuit. Bake in a moderately hot oven at 375F / 190C /Mark 5 for 15 minutes.


Notes

Allow to cool slightly before moving to a wire rack.
