As the name suggests walking football is a slightly slower version of the beautiful game. Whilst it is aimed at the over 50’s anyone can have a go. Allington’s playing field fundraisers have organised training sessions on Thursdays at the MUGA at 6.00pm. The objective is to find a few players to take on Collingham in a competitive fixture. Everyone is welcome.
Walking football is a non contact sport (or at least it is supposed to be). Anyone that sprints, runs or jogs while the ball is in play will be penalised with a free kick awarded to the other team. It is growing in popularity with teams and tournaments appearing around the country. More information can be found on the Walking Football United website.
