To celebrate the centenary year of the W.I. in Allington villagers were invited to an afternoon tea on Saturday 12th October. About 70 people of all ages attended and were able to sit and chat whilst enjoying slices of delicious homemade cake, with everyone being spoilt for choice with what was on offer.
The afternoon was interspersed with eight songs performed by Allington Community Choir, the songs ranging from the 1920s up to the present day to reflect the years that the group has been in existence. They included ‘I’ve Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts’ and ‘Keep the Home Fires Burning’, to ‘Bring Him Home’ and ‘Love Changes Everything’. There was an interesting display of memorabilia from the last hundred years including books of photographs. A donation box collected £138 towards the Market Cross restoration fund. Here’s to the next hundred years!
