How are all the visiting cars (presumably for which the multi storey car park is being built) going to get to Downtown? Has anyone given any thought to the infrastructure of this scheme? The nearby village of Allington is already used as a rat run through to Downtown – Bottesford Road from the A52 has already become a busy main road and not the country lane is is supposed to be. How can SKDC justify this application without changing the access to this proposed site? We have had to stop cycling in the village due to cars racing through and there have been near misses to pedestrians that are not acceptable. It seems very obvious that if this scheme goes ahead without infrastructural changes, then SKDC will have a lot of problems on their hands.

Hi Julia. SKDC doesn’t have to justify anything. Not yet, anyway. Downtown has submitted a planning application and SKDC has to consider it. Highway matters are the responsibility of Lincolnshire County Council, not SKDC and in considering this application SKDC will have to take their views into account.

The proposals are all on the SKDC website and are accompanied by a considerable amount of background data, including an environmental impact assessment. I’ve scanned it and there’s not much reference to Allington. My view, for what it is worth, is that if anyone has any objections to the proposals they should make them to SKDC. However I think it would also be worth making your concerns known to Lincolnshire County Council, and in particular your local county councillor.
