Latest From The W.I.

Our September meeting was an insight into Fostering, Nursing and Entertainment.  Pat How gave us a talk on her fostering experiences and brought photographs along of the lovely little children she had looked after whilst bringing up her own family.  There have been very happy times and also some heartbreaking ones but Pat has no regrets and would do it all again.  Bridget Farr told us of her life as a Theatre Nurse working mainly in Orthopaedics before deciding to pursue her musical career.  Bridget also brought photographs along showing her with some well known faces in show business.  Two very interesting ladies with some wonderful memories.

Our annual Loveden Group Meeting was held in Long Bennington and the meeting was entertained by a “Mentalist” who gave some very interesting demonstrations.  It goes without saying that not everyone volunteered!!  The food was spectacular, as always.  It was Allington WI’s turn to provide desserts and some of the creations were worthy of the “Great British Bake-Off”.  Mary Berry would have been proud of us.

October saw a very interesting demonstration on Tai Chi, when nobody was given the opportunity to opt out.  We all had a go and a whole new dimension was brought to “deep breathing”.
