PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO UNFORSEEN CIRCUMSTANCES. IT WILL NOW TAKE PLACE LATER IN THE YEAR
After speaking at the Lowdham book festival at the end of June, Karen Maitland has kindly found time in her busy schedule to come to the more humble group of literature lovers in Allington. She has accepted an invitation from Syntax and will be talking about her work on August 21st in the village hall at 8.00pm.
Karen began writing in 1996 and her area of expertise and the subjects on which her books are based can best be described as medieval thrillers (murder mysteries) – centred around the powers and intrigues of the early Catholic church, the inquisitions, the myths, magic and legends of the time.
Her works include The Gallows Curse, Company of Liars and The Owl Killers and her latest, The Falcons of Fire and Ice is receiving rave reviews. This book is set not in medieval England (where Elizabeth 1st had been on the throne for six years) but in Lisbon and Iceland – how intriguing that sounds!
If you’ve never been to a Syntax meeting then August 21st would be a good time to give it a try and it will cost you only £2.00 (plus 20p if you fancy a ‘cuppa’ afterwards). What a bargain!
It’s not stuffy, it’s not highbrow and you’ll get a warm welcome before sitting down and listening to one of our most well know writers of medieval fiction.
