DSC_0132dfAllington’s Jubilee celebrations will live long in people’s memories. The events brought together most of the community organisations in the village and the response was tremendous. Most events and activities seemed to be well attended and everyone looked like they were having a good time. Throughout the weekend there must have been something for everyone and the scarecrows in particular brought a smile to faces young and old. Perhaps the words of Pam Jackson sum things up

“I have lived in Allington Village for just over 50 years, and I have taken part in varied activities during that time, but never have I been so proud to be a resident of this village as I was during the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. So many activities taking place that had required thought, preparation and time. It was non-stop entertainment and activity from the Friday evening at the Welby Arms to the finale at the playing field ‘Lark in the Park’ on the Monday. All these activities culminated in the most splendid beacon lighting and a spectacular firework display. There are so many in this village that deserve thanks for the effort they put into this week-end, especially those involved in the organisation on the playing field. I am so thrilled to have been a part of this memorable occasion.”

We now have some photos of activities in our Jubilee gallery. If you would like your photos including please send them to admin@allingtononline.co.uk and we’ll do the rest.

We’ve now received this letter from Pete Simpson so if you played a part in the organisation of the Jubilee activities it’s addressed to you.

  1. I’ve been trying to think of words to express “Allington’s Jubilee”.
However Pam and Pete have said it all. From an original idea everything snowballed into the huge success which, surely, was enjoyed by all.
    Well done Allington.
