Allington is planning to celebrate The Queen’s diamond jubilee in style. The long weekend of 2-5 June 2012 will feature bank holidays on the Monday and Tuesday. Throughout this period there will be a wide range of events to celebrate the occasion. These will include games and sporting activities at the playing field, a Saturday family disco with bbq, a village five-a-side tournament, a community Big Lunch at the playing field on Sunday, a scarecrow competition, art competition and a musical extravaganza on the Monday bank holiday. Events in the village will be focused on the village hall and a large marquee will be in place on the playing field throughout the weekend.
Organisations currently involved include Allington parish Council, FASPS, Allington Village Hall, Allington News, The Playing Field Fundraisers, The Mums and Toddlers Group, The Indoor Bowling Club, Allington LIVES, Allington Morris, Allington Women’s Institute and the History Society.
