Allington

Lincolnshire

Way back in history the village of Allington had an Annual Produce Show, which appears to have ceased after WWII. In the 1970s the WI thought it would be an idea to reinstate this Village Show. This we did very successfully through the 70s and 80s when entries began of fall away.

We are once again attempting to reintroduce a Village Show on Saturday 19th July 2014 in the Village Hall. The title of this show is ‘Craft and Hobby Show’ this is based on the wonderful arts and crafts displayed during the Diamond Jubilee weekend.

Each household will receive our schedule and entry form, which has been circulated by the Allington News. We hope that the classes we have chosen will appeal to many. If your interest is not in art or crafts then perhaps you could try your hand at writing an article or a poem based on ‘Our Village’. I am particularly looking forward to entries of a Limerick of 5 lines starting with ‘In The Beautiful Village of……

Photography is now so much easier with the advent of the digital age, so lets display your captured shots.

The flower and cookery classes should contribute to a colourful display on the day. Should you be wondering what an Ikebana Display is, then visit us on Wednesday 3rd July at 7.30pm in the Village Hall when a flower demonstration may give us a clue. I typed Ikebana into Google and found some remarkable sites.

Calling all school and pre-school children. We have some wonderful trophies for you to compete for, so have a go at writing a story or poem (or both). Producing a picture of the family or the village. If you would like to grow the tallest Sunflower then just give me a call on 01400 281320 as we have sown the seeds and have healthy plants awaiting for you to grow them as tall and large as possible. (Allington Primary School and Allington pre-school only)

We are looking forward to displaying your entries on Saturday 19th July and welcoming you to viewing a wonderful and colourful display on Saturday afternoon.

You will find the final schedule below.
