Allington’s Christmas Tree on the village green was lit up on Sunday evening, 4th December, with the switching on of the festive lights. The tree had been collected the previous day and the job of getting it into position had proceeded quite smoothly. However when it came to testing the lights there was a slight problem due to a complete lack of power from the sockets at the shelter on the green. With the prospect of a generator on the horizon an  engineer from EON arrived and with the help of some useful advice from the more technically minded present, a supply was restored.

The switch on was performed by Liam Lowes who was just about to celebrate his 5th birthday. An excellent crowd braved the chilly evening to enjoy traditional music, mince pies and mulled wine. The event was organised by the Playing Field Fundraisers and donations to the cause totalled £100. Below are a few photos showing some of the work that went into putting the tree in place. If anyone knows what is going on under the tree please feel free to use the comments box at the bottom of this post.
