Allington Gardens is situated on the edge of the village in what was a prisoner of war camp during the Second World War. Later it became a residential caravan site and then a Park Home site. The current owner of the site is the Berkeley Parks and in the last few years Allington Gardens has grown and now contains almost 200 Park Homes.
We have an active residents association, which looks after residents’ interests on the park liaising with the managers on site and with Berkeley Parks when necessary. During the year we try to organise events on the Green within the site, these include a regular Summer Boules Afternoon and a Fun Afternoon, which we hope will become an annual event. In 2017 we also organised an outing to Whitby, a Luncheon Cruise on the River Trent and a visit to the Theatre Organ Centre and Burtey Fen and well as the joint Christmas Party with the Friday Afternoon Social Group. Prior to Christmas we also organise Carol Singing around the Gardens.
Communications on the Gardens are by notice boards and a circular email system. We will also advertise any future events on this web page. Members of the Village are also welcome to join in any of our activities. Members receive a newsletter ‘Down the Gardens’ every three months which, along with the online communications, keeps them informed of the activities of the committee and information of items of concern and interest to residents. We also advertise social events planned and report on these afterwards. We include news of our neighbours, recipes, gardening quizzes and, generally, any snippets that might be of interest.
