Plans are advanced for the 1st Allington Beer festival scheduled to be held at The Welby Arms on 28th and 29th September. This is a joint venture between the pub and the playing field fundraisers. There will be 25 beers on offer, including three ciders. The festival will be open from 5pm to 11pm on Friday and 11am to 11pm on Saturday. A BBQ will be available throughout the event.
Details of the beers are now emerging and you can download some interesting tasting notes from the link below. Regulars at The Welby Arms will remember Wobbly Bob, an occasional guest beer of some notoriety. It is one of the featured beers at the festival where you will find beverages from right across the UK. Local brewers are represented by Brewsters Stilton Porter, a rich roast flavoured porter brewed with 4 types of malt and balanced with notes of spicy rich hops from English varieties.
Entertainment will include a resident DJ through the weekend and performances by Allington Morris. There will be live acoustic sessions on Saturday. Entry will be £3.50 per person including a souvenir glass and first drink. Tel 01400 281361 for more information. The festival will take place in the courtyard at the rear of the Welby Arms under cover of a large marquee. If the weather looks like it’s going to be a bit chilly please dress appropriately.
